MATERIALS LIST :
Cedar Fence Slat 5" x 1/2" x 4 ft. long, cut into the following pieces:
A = 10 x 5 in (Back)
B = 12 x 5 in (Bottom)
C = 5 x 5 in (Sides) (2 pieces)
D = 5 1/2 x 5 in (Lid)
11 Flathead Screws 1 1/4 in.
2 Flathead Screws 2 in.
1 2d Nail 1 in (size not critical)
1 Hinge 1" x 2" with screws
1 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 in Plexiglass
CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS :
If you want to cut the corners off of the top of Back (A), make a mark 1 1/2" from each edge and 1 1/2" down from top on each side and draw a line between the marks (see front view).
Drill pilot hole for mounting screws, one about 1" from top of Back, centered, and second one about 7" below the first one.
Cut the corners off of the front of the Bottom (B) the same way.
The two side pieces (C) need a 1/4" deep saw kerf made about 3/16" from front edge, wide enough to let the Plexiglass slide up and down. One side piece needs a hole drilled thru at the saw kerf just large enough to let the nail be put in by hand (to keep the Plexiglass from being lifted up by the squirrels).
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS :
1. Fasten bottom (B) to back (A) using 3 flathead screws.
2. Fasten each side (C) to bottom with 2 flathead screws and to back with 2 flathead screws.
3. Position Lid (D) in place and screw Hinge to Lid and Back using screws supplied with hinge.
4. To mount the feeder, remove the Plexiglass and fasten to a tree or post with the 2" flathead screws. Reinstall the Plexiglass and fill with shelled corn.
